'Chalk Light' New collection of 12 paintings - coming next week
In this new collection of paintings I'm imagining creatures like these bright beacons, glimpsed for a moment, offering a quiet mythic presence under clear starry nights.
The inspiration for these new paintings started with wonder.
From the ancient presence of shapes etched into chalk, hidden stories carried through the land, a sense of worship these simple but powerful carved images can offer.
My paintings emerge from textures and layers, until I can feel the story and image ready to appear, when there is enough depth and interest and they feel inviting to touch.
The paintings are ready to hang in beautiful hand crafted oak frames.
I live next to a rookery, the collective noun is 'A story telling of Rooks' which feels the perfect description for the way I like to work. Looking for stories beneath the surface.
Ultimately my wish is for my paintings to bring their own stories to their new homes, becoming part of other collections of other loved things.
